Story:
Life has a way of throwing curveballs at you when you least expect it. Sometimes those curveballs knock you down pretty bad. One day I had an apartment, a boyfriend, a roommate, and a great job. A week later we were facing eviction, I lost my job, my roommate, and found out I was pregnant.

I was pretty sure that life couldn't possibly get any worse, or that I was just going to die. I remember sitting under an overpass one night, all of my worldly possessions in a backpack and a hot chocolate that someone had given me because it was cold out and they felt bad for me. I was very sick, to the point that I could barely move, and every day seemed to get harder. I sat there holding my hot chocolate and for the first time in my life I thought about giving up.

I'm good at a lot of things. Giving up is not one of those things.

I was scared as hell. My mother had been wildly abusive, and I was clearly in a terrible situation. I'd read all about how the cycle of abuse continues from parent to child and just gets worse and worse. I was 19 and I had no idea what I was doing or how to break that cycle, even how to end up not sleeping under an overpass. But I knew that I had to do both of those things.

So. I finished my hot chocolate, and then started the long process of pulling myself out of the gutter.

Digging deep means facing what's before you and not letting it stop you. Digging deep means looking at the cards you were delt, and then finding the ones tucked up your sleeve. Digging deep means not judging yourself by what others say, but by what you know you are capable of. Digging deep means knowing you're afraid and you might fail, but trying anyway.

You're capable of truly incredible things. Have faith in yourself.
