Hi Rhonda! Where are you from?
I was born & raised in El Paso, TX. I moved to North Carolina in 2001 and have lived here ever since. I am married to the most amazing woman in the world, Crystal, who is also an avid Zoxer (given not as fanatical as I am). I have three amazing sons that are 28, 18, and 17, and they love ZOX, too.
How’d you find ZOX?
I found ZOX the way a lot of people do… scrolling on Facebook and saw an ad. I loved the idea that I could help underprivileged people get access to clean drinking water, in addition to buying neat bracelets at the same time. (Lord, the water I’ve given since then). I love that there are so many different ZOX. There really is something for everyone.
How long have you been a VIP?
January 18th, 2020, I placed my first ZOX order. It was Starry Night, Alive Imperial, Today is the Day, Keep Going, and my MP Sub. I joined VIP soon after. It’s hard to believe it’s been a year and a half. At first, I didn’t interact much but was in awe of how accepting and supportive everyone was. There was none of the negativity my news feed had. People seemed to have mastered the art of a “virtual” real community where people actually cared about each other. That had me hooked. Now almost everyday, I post my ZOTD. Still not comfortable with posting big, lengthy blogs. I put a lot of thought into my daily ZOTD.
If you could bring back a retired strap, what would it be?
If I could bring back any retired strap, it would be Heartbeat. This past year has shown how incredibly important front line healthcare workers are. Of all the straps I would have loved to have been able to have owned this past year, it was this one. It conveys the love and pride I have for my profession. I love being a nurse and would love to be able to wear this strap one day.
What’s your favorite ZOX memory?
I have a couple favorite ZOX memories. One is when my wife bought me Warrior. I was scheduled for a total knee replacement when I was scrolling through VIP and saw it as a #ZOTD and made a remark to my wife. Not being a Zoxer herself at the time, she searched the internet for it and bought me one. I wore it everyday for 2 years as a reminder to myself that I was so much better than quitting (which I wanted to do so many times but she refused to let me). My other favorite ZOX memory is being picked as VIP of the Week. I was/am floored that I was thought enough of, that people believed I stand for what the ZOX brand and community stand for. I feel truly grateful and humbled.
Which ZOX are you currently wearing?
I’ve been wearing a You Matter To Me (BLM) strap daily with my “family wave”. It is from Left to Right is Love Wins wave rainbow, gemstone wave: pink gem wave (my mom, since she came 1st), aquamarine, citrine, and pink gemstone waves for my three children, emerald and clear gemstone waves for my wife and I, then rainbow gemstone wave and love wins wave to finish it off.
How big is your collection?
My collection at this time is quite out of control, in the best sense of the phrase. I have almost 1000 pieces including straps, strings, singles, imperials, and pearls.
What does your dream strap look like?
My dream strap is hard to explain, partly because it is a mash-up of already existing straps. Side A would be white with a red EKG strip (basically heartbeat inverted). Side B would be line paper with doodles (Something from Nothing) of a heart, rose, dog, rainbow, taco, a ZOX, stethoscope, smiley face, and a unicorn. All the things that make me happy. It’s called - “Heartbeat of Happiness”.
What do you plan on getting next?
I have 2 virtues needed to complete my ZOXBOX 5 collection and Follow Your Heart… Keep missing out on them whenever they are on Zox List.
