the one you feed

I've been singing at church for over twenty years now. Darlene, the woman who first inspired me to sing to the Lord at church, absolutely loved wolves. As I watched Darlene when I was six, I thought "I want to sing at church like her!" I started singing in kids' choir the following year, and I've been in music ministry ever since!

Darlene mentored my choir director when she was young, helped my director start our choir, and then stayed with us in choir to keep supporting us. So she was a continual inspiration to us all. And she was the wolf lady -- wolves were one of her favorite things, and we all knew it.

Unfortunately, Darlene passed away in 2018. It was really hard to lose someone who played such a major role. Wolves became a sort of memorial symbol -- whenever I see a wolf, I think of Darlene

Fast forward to a few years ago, when I ordered ZOX for friends but also got a mystery pack. I opened the pack to find out whether the ZOX inside was meant for me or one of my friends. When I opened it, I almost cried. There it was, a ZOX with a wolf on it. I knew this was for me to keep, and wear in memory of Darlene, the wolf lady. This ZOX was "The One You Feed."

Then, when the "Find Your Pack" ZOX came out for Wolf Week, that one also resonated with me. After all, choir is my "pack" of close friends, and Darlene laid foundations for that "pack!"

Whether I'm wearing the wolf ZOX or not, I carry the ZOX wolves with me every time I go to choir, in Darlene's memory. The wolf cards that the ZOX came with stay in my choir binder.
