stay strong

March 7, 2020

June 2010, my 16th birthday. My grandmother called the house to say happy birthday to me. With her being so many states away it was the only way to talk to her. But something was wrong this time, she couldn't make words. Brain cancer. She was moved from her home all the way to mine after she was given only a few more months to live. We lost her 4 YEARS later. I was inspired everyday watching her never give up, and defy the odds. After 8 years and losing my other 2 grandparents to cancer I had lost my way. This band has struck a chord in me. How can I give up? I'm 24, I'm generally healthy, I have had the same job for 5 years, I have everything in front of me. If she was given months and didn't give up, it would be a shame if I did. So for her, my family and my family members that have passed, my friends, that all believe in me. I will stay strong.
