it's the little things
October 22, 2019I purchased the "Wild at Heart" ZOX because earlier this year, my mom passed away unexpectedly. Her heart literally just stopped. She loved the wild, nature, and all things beautiful. The day after she passed, my dad and I were taking a drive to take our mind somewhere else. In the morning we were talking about foxes and how mom had always wanted to see one, but she never got to. While we were driving in the stark white snow, a gorgeous, healthy, red fox was trotting in the sun beaming down. We took it as a sign that she was with us even though I'm not a religious person at all. She loved all of nature, so it makes sense that that's where she would be. This reminded me that sometimes, it's the little things. After she passed I was in a haze, but I knew I had to keep her kindness, spirit, and compassion for others and the world around her going. I threw myself into good and meaningful work. Going from someone with your standard desk job to now an advocate who works with clients in emergency response situations in regards to domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. I know that with each life I change I am doing it through her and that she is with me. Thank you for giving me something that reminds me of that.
