be kind not only to others, but to yourself

October 1, 2019
Be Kind was the first strap I was gifted from a fellow Zoxer, and it was by sheer luck. I had told myself that I needed to quit spending and scrolling through social media wasn't helping. I was supposed to be avoiding anything Zox related. Just like many before me, the obsession is real. However, on this fateful day I'd been hating on myself a lot for a simple error while at work which resulted in one very upset kid and a good few hours of extra work for a few colleagues and I. I ended up going on Facebook and started to scroll. Just as I was beating myself up again, someone posted a picture of their ZOTD and it was "Be Kind". It looks just like the fish in the story book Rainbow Fish. I instantly was attracted to its design and asked them about it. In finding out it was an older strap, which had sold out a few months before I joined, I vowed to add it to my ISO list and tried to tell myself that maybe one day I would own it. Then, another user tagged me in a comment telling me she had one she wanted to pass on to someone who would love it and it seemed she had found me. I couldn't believe a total stranger was asking me if she could send it to me. I've worn it a lot since the day it arrived. It's always one I come back to time and time again to remind myself that being kind is not only something we should strive to be to others, but also to ourselves. It often seems like kindness is something for others but in being kind to myself I can in turn, be better positioned to be kind to others. The Zox website states that Zox straps are wearable art for your wrists, but they are so much more. A little wrist hug to pick you up when you're feeling low or give you a boost of confidence to keep on pushing forward, a reminder, a keepsake. The whole Zox community is a living, breathing support system. A family who is without a doubt looking out for you, rooting for you, and encouraging you at any time you need them. A whole group of individuals who have come together to do some good in a world so often filled with negativity and hate. Finding Zox has been a reawakening of the most epic proportions for me. Being the good I wish to see in the world has now been made possible since I joined. I see the path I need to take to make that possible and it's all thanks to Zox and the person who gifted me my first strap for opening my eyes to the fact that the simplest of things can have a huge impact.
