Year of the Snake
Year of the Snake.
Long ago and far away, the Chinese decided that different years would coincide with different animals and that would mean something to us. The twelve-year cycle of the Chinese lunar calendar is based on a five thousand year old tradition of Chinese astrology. Ever since I was a kid, the snake has fascinated me. In elementary school I checked out every snake book in the library and was always mesmerized by the natural beauty of the snake. Early in 2012 I found out that 2013 was the year of the snake and knew then that I wanted to make a snake skin design. After months of not being able to get my design to look like I wanted it too I finally nailed it.
When I think about snakes the second thing that comes to mind, after picturing a snake eating a deer, is the “Don’t Tread on Me” drawing by Ben Franklin during the start of the Revolutionary War. To me the snake is a symbol of standing together with one another to better the world in a way that we couldn’t do alone. This meaning fits in so perfectly with Zox because we are all about making an impact in our community through our products and efforts to help others which is enabled by our amazing fanbase.
