Spread Your Wings

Believe it or not, it's actually a myth that birds push their young out of the nest to teach them to fly. Instead, a mother eagle will typically bring a fresh kill in sight of her young to taunt them. Once the eaglet is hungry enough, it will then find the will and courage to spread its wings and move to its mother.

I think this is a great metaphor for life. All too often we get caught up in the myth that someone else will always be there to actually push us out of our nest. There will never be a push for you to succeed, but there will be friends and family who will be there to encourage you to spread your wings so they can watch you soar.
