Hello friends! You may not recognize me yet, but you might have seen a couple of ZOX lists with hidden secrets in them (wink, wink) that I have curated just for the community or noticed my name at the end of the F&F Podcast release post. I hope you have been enjoying the fun games Landri and I have created, and maybe even checked out the product recommendations for unique perspectives on ZOX that you might have skipped over.
You’ll soon see my stories for straps and more ZOX blog posts, and let me tell you, the new podcast is just the beginning of the many exciting projects in store for subscribers! While I can’t reveal much about those, I can tell you a bit more about myself. I grew up outside of San Antonio, Texas where I spent much of my life consuming stories and eventually fell in love with telling them as well. That path led me to ZOX, which has allowed me to share stories in a whole new way.
Now that you know me a bit better, let’s get to what you’ve patiently been waiting for: Once In A Blue Moon!
Unless you are familiar with lunar cycles, you may not recognize this particular moon phase. This special moment only happens about every thirty-two months when a second full moon appears in one calendar month. You can enjoy a blue moon for one night but after that, you’ll have a good amount of waiting to do before another one rises in the night sky.
That rarity has made the phrase “Once in a blue moon” take on so much importance. Great opportunities are all around you, but it's not every day that you are in the unique position to take a chance on them. For me, my blue moon moment was this job at ZOX. For myself and many others, 2020 brought job openings to a halt. I was questioning if I’d ever get a job in writing. But one day, I walked into the Airstream for an interview and walked out knowing that my next step was right in front of me. All my hard work had led up to this moment, and I wasn’t going to let it pass me by.
You never know when your blue moon moment will come, but as rare as it is, it will come. It’s up to you to seize that chance when it finally comes around.
Here are a few tips for waiting patiently for your blue moon when it arrives:
I can tell you first hand that the waiting is the worst part, but it wouldn’t feel like once in a blue moon if incredible opportunities came around all the time! I promise that your patience will be rewarded one way or another.
Everybody needs a little push when it comes to taking chances, and the artist who created Once In A Blue Moon knows a thing or two about making that leap of faith while you can. Here’s what our Spotlight Artist, Stephanie Lambert, had to say about the meaning behind this strap’s art and name:
The thought behind the band once in a blue moon comes from when I was a child. I was always so scared and nervous to do anything that when an opportunity arose I would say, “There always next time. I don’t have to do anything right now.” I was so wrong that my fear blinded me and made me miss out on so many good things because sometimes there isn’t a next time. Eventually, I realised that sometimes things only happen once in a blue moon, so go for it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained; plus you have nothing to lose by just going for it and trying something new.
Life is for living, not for fearing what may never happen. You only miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.
The idea came from that silly little fear, but the artist inside me created the rest. I love foxes and mythical creatures so I was going for an almost magical woodland setting with the fox and owl looking at the moon in awe of its beauty. Appreciating the moment as it may never come again. Harmony amongst the woodlands.
So when you wear this band remember to take every chance you get as it only happens once in a blue moon.
This beautiful strap is just for our amazing subscribers, so consider this your blue moon moment to snag such a mystical design! I hope it inspires you to take chances with the knowledge that you truly are ready for anything.
