a commitment to self-improvement

January 17, 2020

At the beginning of each year, Jason and I try to pick a word or short phrase for the year to come. Picking a “word of the year” has become a tradition that gets us really fired up for the New Year! For example, you might select “stay positive” or “choose happy” if you want to work at being happy no matter the circumstances you encounter throughout the year. It’s a commitment to self-improvement that, while it may seem small, has the potential to impact everyone around you.

A Family Affair

We’ve even gotten Brandon and Jordan to join in on the fun! We have a family group text that we mainly use for work but last week the topic of our word for 2019 came up and guess what? None of us could remember what word we had chosen for this past year! This is when I had an idea: What if a ZOX could serve as a reminder for me throughout the year of what I’ve committed to in 2020?

ZOX is a Community

One of my favorite things about the ZOX community is the stories that people share about the bracelets providing inspiration to get through all of the different seasons of life. Brandon has described before how some of the stories shared by Zoxers have brought us to tears; it’s amazing how a simple bracelet can have such a big impact on someone’s life.

Progress Not Perfection

It might sound silly, but more and more, I look at ZOX bracelets as being similar to a Fitbit. If you aren’t familiar with Fitbits, they track your steps throughout the day and help keep people motivated to stay physically active. Similarly, I’ve found that our bracelets can be a tangible encouragement that keep me on track mental health-wise. Whether I need a reminder to “just breathe” when my kids are running circles around me while I’m trying to get something done, or to “stay positive” when everything seems to be going wrong, I love that I can look down at my wrist and have a bracelet help keep my temporary emotions from taking over.

Pick Your Word

Personally, I love the Singles. They feel more feminine to me and look great paired with some of my other jewelry (such as the “You Are Enough” sample ring that I haven’t been able to take off since Jason gave it to me – hoping to share more about the ZOX rings soon!). Here are some Singles that I think would make a great “word of the year” for 2020.

Remember, if you aren’t into bracelets, any of our ZOX originals can be put onto our ZOXLOX to make a great keychain so that you can still carry your motivation with you!
