starry night with deb and her grandson

August 29, 2019

So when I was very young we lived with my grandparents while our house was being built. That was a year of great changes for me at 5 - I was moving into a new home, I had a brand new baby brother and I was starting Kindergarten. A lot of scary changes for 5 years old. But most of all I didn’t want to leave grandma. We had a ritual of going out at night to say goodnight to the moon before I went to bed. My grandmother asked me "You see that moon?" I said yes. She said at my new house the same moon will still be up in the sky at night. So you can look up at the moon and know that I too am looking at the same moon. So we can say goodnight to the moon and each other. And I did. I remember calling her to see if she did indeed look at the moon when I did - of course she told me yes. This brought me great comfort! This summer, my only grandson (aged 11) moved to Colorado. I miss him terribly. When I saw Starry Night I knew I had to get it for us both. I shared my story with him and gave him his ZOX. It is a daily reminder that I love him. He will send me pics saying I’ve got mine on - do you have yours? Or did you see the moon last night. Our Starry starry night ZOX has helped us to stay connected even though we are apart. This is just the first of our family’s ZOX stories!!
