hope over fear

February 10, 2020

I’m a teacher at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Yes, that school, you know the one that had the mass shooting on 2/14/18. My students and I were able to evacuate and get out safely. However, we heard later that the shooter most likely blended in with our building somewhere and walked out with us. My husband also teaches at MSD and was grazed by two bullets protecting and saving lives in the 1200 building. We are both truly blessed to be here still. We are both passionate, motivated educators who truly love what we do. I bought your strap, Hope Over Fear, because it serves as a good reminder that there are good people in the world and not all hope is lost. I still have some bad days at school where I’m nervous or on edge, thinking about that “what if's” or what if something bad happens again, but those days are getting fewer and further apart. Your strap is also our school colors, burgundy and silver. Shortly after I bought the strap I contacted your company and shared a bit of my story. You were kind enough to donate 50 straps to give to students at MSD. They are still wearing the strap too. Thank you!
