healed

December 3, 2019
On Thanksgiving 2017, I was driving from my parents' house on my way to drop my son off at the babysitter and go to work. It was about 6:30pm, and I was less than 5 minutes away from the babysitter. The next thing I remember is waking up in a hospital bed, very confused as to how I got there and unable to get up. It was two days later. As I became more aware, I found out that I was involved in a head on collision and sustained some serious injuries. The other driver was going full speed, was high on some illegal drugs, passed out and swerved into my lane. There are still tire marks on the road from me trying to slam my brakes. I required emergency exploratory surgery, resulting in gallbladder removal and fixing a liver laceration. I had a deep laceration on my scalp and had a concussion. My right kneecap was fractured and required surgery. My right hand was broken in two spots. And my left foot had a very deep cut across the top of my ankle. I'm still on the road to recovery, and I wear Healed every day to remind myself that, as the quote says, "I am better off healed than I ever was unbroken". Through this difficult journey I learned just how strong I am, and how it's possible to overcome and get through the most difficult hurdles. This was my first Zox strap and I'll always treasure it.
