fighter

June 6, 2021
I received my fighter bracelet in a mystery package and loved the message but not the design too much. It sat in my collection unused for a couple of months, until life became stressful for myself and my girlfriend. In January my girlfriend went in for surgery - a cancer scare. The week before her procedure I noticed she was anxious, so I took out my fighter strap and put it on her. For the next week she wore it day and night, the doctor even let her keep it on while she was in the operating room. Another week of recovery and she felt good enough to do rip the bracelet off her arm triumphantly. A few weeks go by before she has to begin court proceedings for her children. Again I put the bracelet on her wrist and it started there until the judge rendered his verdict. Not two weeks later I found myself hospitalized and diagnosed with a hernia. I would need semi emergency surgery, scheduled for just a few days later. As I'm recovering from my ER stay, my girlfriend walks to my Zox box and pulls out the fighter bracelet to put on me. I wore it for four weeks, through my procedure and recovery. It was an amazing feeling when I could finally take the bracelet off my wrist. Now it's faded and stretched from use, and I'll always remember what it's seen us through.
